Welcome to the Official Web Site for the Town of Newtown, CT. The town provides this web site to connect you with the information, services and people that comprise our town government.

The Borough of Newtown occupies about 1,252 acres (5.07 km 2) (or roughly two square miles) in the central part of town. Incorporated in 1824 by an act of the Connecticut General Assembly, it is one of only nine boroughs in the state.

All information is intended for your general knowledge only and is not a substitute for contacting the Town of Newtown office or other departments listed at this web site.

Nestled along the Little Miami River, Newtown is a village with strong roots and solid bones. It is an idyllic community where neighbors know one another and people genuinely care about each other.

Home to one of Connecticut's remaining 9 Boroughs, Newtown offers more than a dozen public parks, a State Forest, waterfront recreation, and 30 scenic trails to hike. We're unique, by nature. Geographically, we're the largest community in Fairfield county.
