Detention The Wake County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division manages two detention facilities, the only such facilities that house adult detainees in Wake County. The Wake County Detention Center is located at 3301 Hammond Road, approximately halfway between the cities of Raleigh and Garner.

Detention Center central Mecklenburg County Detention Center Central is a direct supervision facility that opened in 1997. An additional tower was added in the second phase of construction in 2002 bringing the capacity to house over 1900 residents making it the largest municipal detention center in North and South Carolina.

The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) serves the Fayetteville and Spring Lake regions, with ten bus routes and two shuttle routes. FAST operates thirteen fixed bus routes within the city of Fayetteville.
