If you are looking for an inmate in Michigan, the Department of Corrections is the first place to search. They offer an Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS) where you can look up information on current inmates.

If you require assistance or an accommodation to use this search tool or to locate information on an offender, please email CorrectionsInfo@michigan.gov or call 517-241-0363.

Michigan’s primary statewide search tool is OTIS. It lists prisoners, parolees, probationers, and some recently discharged individuals still within the statutory window.

Interested persons may perform Michigan Department of Corrections Inmate Searches on the OTIS using inmates' names and MDCO Numbers. Typically, each search criteria returns a list of matching records containing details of inmates housed in MDOC's facilities.

The Offender Tracking Information System (OTIS) contains information about prisoners, parolees, and probationers who are currently under supervision, or who have been discharged but are still within three years of their supervision discharge date.

Records of inmates serving their sentence in MI state prisons are maintained by Michigan Department of Correction (DOC). The DOC maintains a centralized inmate database which one can easily search (refer the guide below).

Anyone can perform a Michigan inmate search to find those incarcerated in state jails and prisons and find out why they are in jail. You must access the inmate lookup sites provided by the Sheriff’s offices in each county.
