This digest contains bar exam information for each U.S. jurisdiction including the typical bar exam format, subjects tested, bar exam and MPRE scoring, deadlines, fees, reciprocity and more.

Effective with the July 2016 bar examination, the New York bar examination consists of the Uniform Bar Examination (UBE). The UBE is a high quality, uniform battery of tests that are administered contemporaneously in every other jurisdiction that has adopted the UBE.

For current bar requirements, you should consult The Comprehensive Guide to Bar Admission Requirements, published annually by the American Bar Association Section of Legal Education and Admission to the Bar and the National Conference of Bar Examiners.

It is a uniformly administered, graded, and scored bar examination that results in a portable score, not a portable status. Applicants who take the UBE may transfer their scores to seek admission in other UBE jurisdictions within a certain amount of time after the scores were earned.

*For 2022 and 2021, the ABA did not collect information about "graduates who took the bar exam before graduation" and "graduates who took the bar exam after graduation" as it does currently, so those data fields are not included in this report.

An applicant who has filed a registration application pursuant to Section 2 of this rule and who seeks to take the Ohio bar examination shall file with the Office of Bar Admissions of the Supreme Court an Application to Take the Bar Examination.
