William Faulkner was an American writer who won the 1949 Nobel Prize for Literature and is best known for his works set in fictional Yoknapatawpha County. His notable novels include The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying, Absalom, Absalom!, and Light in August.

The Center for Faulkner Studies (CFS) is devoted to the study of William Faulkner, sole owner and proprietor of Yoknapatawpha County, Mississippi. The CFS is located on the fourth floor of Kent Library in Room 406 on Southeast Missouri State University’s campus in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
