The City of Westmoreland, Kansas is the county seat for Pottawatomie County. Established in 1853, Westmoreland was once a stop for travelers on the Oregon Trail. South of town on Highway 99 is a roadside park dedicated to those travelers complete with informational signage and a covered wagon and oxen sculptured by Ernest White, local resident.
